Working with Children

Second Street Learning Center: SSLC
The SSLC is our 24/7 day care facility that works with children ages 6 weeks-13 years old. Assistance is needed with all age children;

• Infants – holding and rocking
• Toddlers – playing with and assisting the teachers with the planned activities
• Pre-schoolers – playing with and assisting the teachers with the planned activities. Volunteers are also needed to work one-on-one with children with basic reading, writing and math skills ( weekday mornings)
• Young school-age (5-6 year olds) – playing with the children and assisting with planned activities. Assistance is Needed with basic reading, writing and math skills weekdays from 4:00 – 6:00.
• School age (7-9 year olds) – Tutors are needed on weekdays from 4:00 – 6:00pm
• Tweens (10-13 y ear olds) – Tutors are needed on weekdays from 4:00 – 6:00pm

Volunteers are needed for all age groups in the evenings and weekends to assist the staff with the planned activities ( no tutoring on weekends)

Volunteer GROUPS are needed to organize special parties and programs for all age groups

State or Federal Clearances are NOT required by volunteers because you are never alone with the children; staff are always present.
