Transitional Housing
Our transitional housing program provides families with an opportunity to make a gradual transition back into the community. All families participating in this program have demonstrated the ability to make positive changes in their lives while engaged in shelter services, but are unable to maintain these changes once they re-enter the community.
Some parents lack the skills needed to live independently in the community and are limited by physical and/or mental disabilities. Others are employed but are considered “working poor” and lack sufficient income to afford their own residence.
Case management services are available to assist with activities of daily living, money management, and transportation to and from appointments.Child care is also available through the Second Street Learning Center.
All individuals and families pay 30% of their monthly income to rent. Utilities such as gas, electric, and water are included in this fee.
Length of stay for families participating in this program ranges from 3-24 months depending upon their needs. Upon successful completion of this program, families can either transition into our permanent housing program or move independently back into the community.
An average of nine families comprised of 11 adults and 21 children participate in this program each month.
